MONDAY, APRIL 25, 1921.EDWARDS STILL AT LARGE; ARM INJUREDLittle Effort Being Made By Maron City Police to Capture Bandit Loose in That City.City. April 25.—Norman Ed wards, wanted by police here and at Albert Lea for resisting officers Thursday n'rbt at ihe latter city following v-'rtrua rohberies'at Owaton-na, is still at large here after bavins? been sighted and shot at by police at the* Fair Grounds Saturday night.Following his escape from policemen Saturday the information was received that4 Edwards hid in a pile of telephone pojrs In the southeast corner of the fair grounds and was there all the time officers we~e combing the fair grounds and its buildings for him. It is said that small boys playing around the vicinity saw Edwards emerge from the pile of poles after searchers had left the vicinity.Edwards is said to have dropped in at the South Side cafe Sunday morn ing where he ordered a meal. Then becoming suspicious, he leit before his order was received. One man claims to have seen Edwards and to have talked to him, according to word received this morning by county officials. The man stated that Edwards was wounded in one arm. Edwards has plenty of money, it is claimed.T^re la another report current that the Mason City bandit is hiding In the Roosevelt stadium and that he sleeps nijfhts under the concrete grand stand, fteslflents of College additloif repoii having seen a strange man in the vicinity Saturday and Sunday, believed to have been Edwards.Edwards is wanted for robbery, resisting an officer and carrying concealed weapons. It Is evident that the man is reluctant to get away from the vicinity of the city and that he intends to say hereabous. No search was being made for him this morning by officers. They believe, it is said, that he will give himself up sooner or later.Both Norman Edwards and his bro ther Leslie, who was killed in a 28-bullet gun battle with Albert Lea officers last week, It developed this morn Ing, have been wanted by the sheriff at Worth county for several months on petty and grand larceny charges. The sheriff at Northwood notified Mason City officers to this effect and recently a search was made for Edwards here.Wanted at Nortnwood.At that time they were supposed to have been working for the Crystal Lake Ice Fuel company. A search which proved to be unavailing was in stituted for them at the ice house in College addition. The men were want ed for alleged thefts of fur at North-wood.Officials stated this morning that it was due to a lacs of instruction to proceed with the immediate capture of the Mason City youth from Albert Lea officials that efforts to lay handson him were so desultory.Later.A Mason City man, who interviewed a Tribune representative in Albert Lea Monday morning said: “The police In (MLason City are not making much of an effort to get Norman. They were told that the officers in Albert Lea opened tire first and when the boys were cornered they retaliated. While here today I have heard the straight of the story. I am going to tell them the real facts when I gel back to Mason City.
