wCRIME OF THE WEEKMurderIt was approximately 8:30 in the morning on October 17, 1989 when the ordca! began in the South Waco community near S. 26th Street and DuttonAve,Waco Police were notified qf a missing 10 year old. The missing child was Sheiia Finch. Sheila was last seen leaving 2812 Ross. She was headed to a nearby pay phone to make a phone call. The phone call was made and it is believed the call was made from the pay phones at the grocery store at 26th and Dutton. This was the last time she was heard from-approximatcly 8:45 thatTuesday morning. Area law enforcement agencies conducted a massive searchthroughout the south Waco area looking for lead to Sheila’s whereabouts.The search ended October 19,1989. Sheila Finch’s body was found near Lake Waco that Thursday afternoon. Sheila had been stabbed to death.
