Suspects held in connection with Burger Chef killingsINDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Lie detector tests have been scheduled for two Indianapolis men in the 1978 slayings of four employees of a Speedway fast food restaurant, police say.Investigators also say the two may be responsible for at least 20 robberies of fast-food restaurants over four years.State Police Sgt. Leon Griffith said Tuesday Timothy L. Piccione, 26, and John W Defibaugh, 29, were arrested on robbery charges Saturday by task force in vestigators assigned to the Speed way murders.One task force member said the two men admitted 20 robberies offast food restaurants in Marion and Johnson Counties, including Burger Chef restaurants on Sumner Avenue and Southport Road.Sheriff’s Sgt. Harold Baker said the methods of those two robberies were nearly identical with the Speedway Burger Chef robbery in which four young employees were abducted and murdered.Baker said the suspects denied any involvement in the Speedwaymurders and agreed to take lie detector tests.“In the Southport Road robbery, they (the suspects) accosted an employee in the (restaurant) park ing lot with a shotgun and forced him back inside,’’ Baker said.“There was an assistant manager and two employees They made all three of them lie on the floor and then they forced the assistant manager at gunpoint to open a safe. They also took personal money from all three employes and tiedthem up and left them ”Baker said the Burger Chef res tauranat robbery on Sumner Avis nue was done in about the same way.
