Officers Required To Aid Auto LawsLittle Hock, April 23.—It is the duty of sheriffs, deputy sheriffs and constables to report violations of traffic laws and regulations of the Arkansas Highway Commission and Arkansas Railroad Commission pertaining to licensing and opera-tio nof motor vehicles for hire, Attorney General Hal L. Norwood held in an opinion issued recently in response to an inquiry from the Railroad Commission. The attorney general held that Act 299 of 1929, creating the stat^ highway patrol, did not interfere with the general statute prescribing the duties of peace officers in respect to violation of any criminal statute, but that the highway patrol act is cumulative to other statutes. Peace officers should report traffic violations or failure to observe regulatory laws to th prosecuting attorney or deputy prosecuting attorney; of .thedistrict in which the violaiton oc-% 'curs, or should go to the nearest justice of the peace and obtain a warrant for the arrest of the violator, the attorney general wrote.tt
