CHINAMAN HUNQ IN PORTLAND.Ah Lee one of the Chinamen tried and found guilty of the murder of a Christian Chinaman iq the joss House, in Portland, over a year ago, was hanged last Tuesday, 11:20 A. M. His accomplice in crime is serving a life sentence in the penitentiary, and until the day previous to his execution, Ah Lee hoped to escape the gallows. His attorneys worked hard to save his neck, even go ing so far as to try to cause a clash betweenthe State and U. S. courts. Such a seriousaffair seemed for several days, judging from#the tone of the Portland papers, quite likelyto occur; but Judge Deady was too wellversed in law, and has too much regard forright and honor to allow any personal or political consideration ta com# between him and the people in his decisions. All honor to Judge Deady. We will give next week, his decision in the case and Gov. Thayer’s letter also.
