Girard man accused of firing shots at estranged wifeGIRARD, Kan. - A Girard man has been taken into custody on charges that he held his estranged wife hostage and fired shots at her when she escaped last weekend to a neighbor’s home, according to Crawford County Undersheriff Dan Peak,Donald L. Burrous, 49, is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping, burglary and violation of a protective order involving Tamorah Burrous at 1906 Car-line Road in Girard, according to a complaint filed in Crawford County District Court.Tamorah Burrous, according to the charges, came home between midnight Friday and 1 a.m. Saturday and found her estranged husband with a rifle in the house.He allegedly held her at gunpoint. At about 8 a.m. Saturday, according to Peak, Tamorah Burrous escaped out the back door to a neighbor’s home.A t least four or five shots were fired, Peak said.A tip led deputies to Donald Burrous” mother’s apartment at 813 W, St. John St., where deputies about 8 p.m. Tuesday arrested him without incident.
