Housewife FoundGuilty In Bathtub Drowning Of ChildLELAND (UPI)—Mrs. Virginia Strohm, a 33-year-old Greilick-ville housewife, was found guilty of manslaughter late Thursday afternoon in the bathtub drowningof her only child Feb. 29.*A Leelanau County Circuit Court jury of 10 men and two women deliberated approximately 41/a hours before bringing in the verdict which climaxed a three-day trial filled with conflicting testimony about the woman’s sanity.Mrs. Strohm, a dark-haired, plain appearing woman, was calm when the verdict was read, and she seemed to show relief.However, the woman’s husband, Willard, a Traverse City factory worker who was at his job when 22-month-old Robert Strohm was drowned by his wife, had tears in his eyes and his face was red-colored and strained.A sister of Mrs. Strohm’s jumped up and screamed when she heard the verdict and ran from the courtroom. Observers said the scream indicated she thought Mrs. Strohm should have been freed.Circuit Judge Charles Brown ordered a pre-sentence investigation for Mrs. Strohm. ;| She was remanded back to the custody of the sheriff’s office and was in jail today awaiting sentencing. It was believed it will take at least a week before she is sentenced.4
