Smith was carried to the theater stage and a physician was called.Hudson killed his engine and aided in carrying the injured performer to the theater. He also called the physician. After examination Smith was pronounced out of danger, although he suffered from a wrenched hip and a badly sprained ankle. Smith did not hold Hudson responsible for the accident as he was working in the street at the time, attempting a new feat on the uni-cycle.The accident happened near the corner of Fifth and Wall streets. Smith was riding his uni-cycle backwards and Hudson was just turning around the corner. It was impossible for the men to see each other. When the automobile struck Smith he was thrown to the groundd, the machine passing over both man and uni-cycle before it could be stopped. The accident caused Smith to abandon his act for the night. However, there are five members of the troupe and three of these are women.
