CHARGES AGAINST JOHN R. THAYER.WASHINGTON, April *0.—SenatorsHoar, Lodge and Hill have received copiesof two affidavits containing chargesagainst John R. Thayer of Worcester. In connection with the Uxbridge postoffice trouble.Patrick F. Brady of Uxbridge affirms that Mr. Thayer said he could place a nigger” as postmaster If he wished to.James F. Stratton of Milford says: Mr. Thayer did agree to support Mr. Dolan of Millville for the position of postmaster, and afterward, because of the promise of $200, did agree with John Conway of Millville to assist him (Conway) to get the postoffice. Mr. Thayer said in answer to the promise of the above amount: ‘Allright; I will do It,’ and he did so.It Is said Mr. Thayer can deny the charges.
