The attack, Hudson claims, was wholly unprovoked and wanton. He to-day filed a complaint in the city court against Whitten and Lewallen, but they have either left the city or are in hiding* Marshal Hippie, however, is confident of their arrest.Candidatea for the Democratic nominations in Harrison county are as follows: Representative, Smith Askern; County Clerk, Daniel F. Gwart* ney.The associated press reporter at Louis* vifle sends out the following dispatch, which is utterly devoid of truth, so far as Merritt and White Caps are concerns ed: “Pily Whitten and Lewallen, with a band of “White Caps,” went the house of Richard Merritt, in New Albany, this evening, drove Merritt across the river to Louisville, abused his wife and beat severely a stranger who happened to be there. The leaders will be arrested.” The whole affair was simply a drunken fight between Peleg Whitten, Enoch Lewallen and Frank Hudson, and amounted to but little. nr. nr..
