Yesterday afternoon George Phelan shot Charles Hopkins in the right arm and It Is feared the elbow Joint Is so afflicted that amputation may become necessary. The difficulty occurred about three miles southof town, where they live, and * Is said to have been brought by remarks Phelan is alleged to have made about Hopkins’ wife. The preliminary trial was s«*t before Judge Williams atGreenland at 2:110 this afternoon,Charley Hopkins was brought in today to be examined to ascertain whether or not it would be necessary to amputate his arm. It has not yetI!»oen determined. The trial of Phe-' lan did not come off today.
