The court began upon the trial oi criminal cafe*, and ended with the adjudication of caofet brought up fro* the courtdbelow.ThTee indinvents were traverfed at tbia Sitting, and the following perfons received Sentence as follows,viz:James Dorfej, a free negro, convided of larceny—to be whipped through the principle (Ireeta of this city, with oue and thirty (tripes on the hare back ; and during the pu-niflimcnt to wear faftned on his hat a paper withthefe word* in large letters, MAN IN- CORRIGIBLE OFFENDER.M—Then to find afurety for his good behaviour for 6 months, pay co(U of prolecution, and (land convied till fcntence be performed..Mingo (fuppoled to be a run-away negro) conrided ol larceny,—to be whipped before the jail Door with 19 llripes on the bare back.7tomas Cochran, innkeeper,was found guilty of futfcring gaming in his hoafe, contrary to a Territorial (lature—and adjudged to pay a fine of 100 dollars no the nfe of the Ter-ricory#i to lofchi»licenfe,aud pay cods of pro-lecution.The fevcral Sentences have ^een fince carried into execution. ■ -On the 16th. the High Sheriff of Hamilton, the Coroner and the Gentlemen of the Bar, gate an elegant . entertainment to his Hi-nour, at the houfe of George Gordon, efq. and to whicblhe Gentlemen who compofed the Grand Jury were likewife invited.
