Centre Avenue Church pastorInterpreting sermons, prayers and hymns during services in the churchMrs. Thomasson, 23, and husband, Mike, 25, who serves as youth director and associate pastor for the church, began work recently under directionThe Thomassons arrived here in recent weeks from Missouri where the Rev. Thomasson served as pastor of a mission for 10 months. He wasgraduated in May 1974 from Arlington (Tex.) Baptist College.His wife, termed a missionary” of the church here, also attended Arlington Baptist Q)llege and studied dactylology, sign language for the deaf. She hopes to expand this specialized activity and invites persons of all denominations to attend Centre Avenue services. A special section in front area of the church is reserved for this ministry.Tentative plans, according to church officials, also include extending the worship opportunity for the deaf to Roswell and possibly, Carlsbad Bus service to pick up and return prospective participants in Roswell is under consideration.Mrs. Thomasson serves in her “missionary” capacity on a volunteer basis. . .Her primary hope is that many will accept her offer of an unusual 'gift” — the ability to “hear” a worship service through sign languageThe couple has been married five years. They reside at 1501 Centre Ave., adjacent to the church.
