Wade Convicted Of Manslaughter(Continued from Page One)October, and described the forms of discipline she and Wade used on Daniel, one of her three sons.She said she used a horse and buggy whip and a leather dog leash several times on the child before the fatal incident .According to Mrs. Strong, Wade indicated she was not hitting Daniel hard enough, and then demonstrated byhitting the bed.She added that Wade thenhit Daniel two times with the whip while the child was on his stomach and once more while he was on his back.Mrs. Strong said she saw Wade raise his bare foot over the child's lower abdomen, but she turned away for five seconds so she couldn’t see.She testified she heardDaniel gasp for breath, and when she turned her eyes back to the child Wade wasputting his foot on the floor.“I didn’t actually see him put his foot on Danny’s stomach,” she testified, but added that she had seen it happen before.The earlier incident occurred two or three' weeks before, when Wade stomped on Daniel’s stomach and also on the stom ach of one of her other sons.She said she warned Wade that he could injure them, but Wade assured her he didn't do it hard enough.While her son didn’t cry after the first time, he had a fever and vomited the next day, after the Dec. 1 incident, she explained.The child was put to bed the night of Dec. 2, but at 12:35 a.m. Dec. 3 Good Will Fire Co. received a call for an ambulance, saving thechild was choking.According to the ambulance driver , the child was dead on arrival 20 minutes lateral Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.According to the attending physician, the baby had a large bruise on the lower abdomen and on one side.
