Illinois-st., when a Sun man called early Monday morning.“Perhaps I know more about the case than any one else. I found it outby having a’dress made where Mrs. Cox boards. They were holding a meeting there at the time. I feel confident that she and her husband committed the crime, but I am afraid 1 shouldn’t say anything to vou about it,X. W X •for I might tell something that 1 shouldn't. I have been advised by Mr. Henneberger all along and willO uhave to see him before 1 can grant an1.1interview with a newspaper man.”Monday morning Albert Cox calledon a prominent Indianapolis attorney,and there a St;\ reporter saw him. lieis a slender man of medium stature.with dark features, lie was neatlydressed and a modest diamondsparkled in his shirt front. There hadbeen a senseless rumor about theneighborhood that he would kill the first reporter that came around to broach the subject of his wife’s confession. but he received a Sun reporter with the utmost courtesy, saying that he desired to make a statement and set matters right. It. was then that 1 met and married Hattie Peel. Her parents objected and we had been married a mouth before thev found it out. There was no strong opposition, however, when theydid discover it. So far as I know,there was no other suitor for my wife’shand. Jt is true that mv wife said to*Mrs. Foisel that her mother wanted her to marry an elderly man and that she (my wife) told her mother that if he did not leave her alone she would put him out of the way. The confession that was printed was never made.”
