Artesian men plead no contestMITCHELL, S.D (AP) -Two Artesian men originally charged with aggravated assault pleaded no contest Tuesday to reduced charges of simple assault.LaMoine L. Torgerson and Boyd D. Hopkins Jr., were charged for a March 1 incident outside the Mitchell Elks Club in which Richard Good manson of Mitchell was beaten.The original felony charges were dismissed at preliminary hearings about two weeks ago. Judge George Wuest dismissed charges on the grounds the evidence presented did not show probable cause for aggravated assault charges.Davison County States Attorney Patrick Kiner refiled charges of simple assault — a misdemeanor — against the two men Tuesday morning.
