Sha-Che, or the Indian ieile who disap-peared so mysteriously last March, George Soldier has been arrested and the eoroner of the county is how* holding a secret inquest. At the suggestion of Deputy Marshal M. Healy of Cedar Rapids, this was done. All the evidence introduced causa mortis was that of Dr. Corns of Montour, who ;zuade a partial examination of the jbody. Dr. Corns stated that there were indications that the woman came to her death by a blow on the head, but not sufficient for him to be positive that this was the cause of death. The body will probably be exhumed-and a careful autopsy made.' There is one peculiar circumstance about the death of this woman, which, if carefully Investigated, may throw ..some light upon her death. About two years ag6 an Indian by the name of .John Sepo was murdered at the reser-' yatioiL One Frank Earl was arrested and indicted by the federal grand jury. The evidence seemed to be positive that he was the guilty party, but when the trial came on those who testified before.-the grand jury -seemed to know nothing dn the trial court. It is a known fact that the Indians have •but little respect Or regard for their oath in our civil and criminal courts, blit they have a way of -their own in meeting out retribution. This John Seepo was-the brother of George Soldier, the accused: in .this case. Thedeath of this: woman may be traceableback to -some connection of hers with the Sepo murder. There is a belief that if the detec; fives take up this line of thought good may result. . George Soldier is the son1 of Bfiter Soldier, who is . a half breed,he claiming tlmt Ms father was a German teamster connected vsith the regular army. sA large number-of Indians were in 'the 'city Saturday holding, quiet talks among themselves,'but it is elaimed that the material witnesses are. hard-to find. If this woman was -murdered- it will be the-third case-xf that kind'Occurring oh the reservation within the last decade and so far none of the guilty parties have been punished.roedanmifa:atthNcasliIkbufa:dubasymiedM;ro****Inonarbitbefriondawlt;byCcenMjop
