Police Court.—There were three cases before Judge Good on Saturday Hugh Harris used hie best efforts on Friday to get full, and so persistently did he attend to that department of literature, he succeeded beyond his most sanguine expectations. Feeling unwell he started for home, muttering to himself: “If my wife hasn't got supper ready when I get home, I'll lick her. What business has she to keep me wailing for (hie) my supper? If ebe has got supper ready when I get home I'll lick her. What business (hie) has she to let the victuals get cold, when (jiic) she knows I like 'em hot? Thus resolved he went home and began abusing the wife of his bosom. He threw the bread she was baking out of doors, and for fear it should be lonely, threw out a lot of newly washed clothes to keep it company. Then, in the language of his abused wife, he “commenced to rip and snort, tear and swear, and cavort so lively as to compel her to get a policeman and have the amiable Mr. Harris arrested. He was fined $10 and costs. Not having so much filthy lucre, he will learn to tame his passions and the science of geology during the twenty days he has to serve on the chain gang.
