STATEMENT OF HENBY ETENBUBN.I am a private of Company A, of the 10th regiment of Indiana volunteera. I enlisted in Boono county, Indiana, under Captain Jas. H. Hamilton, about tho 15th of July, 1861. I am now under Captain Thomas A. Cobb. My father's name is Jacob Etenburn. I shall be twenty-ono years old in July next. When our regiment was stationed at Lebanon,Kentucky, in tho early part of this winter I went homo. When I was homo I talked some with my father in relation to tho kind of money circulating South in the vicinity of the army. I told him that I had seen somo Boone county money circulating among the soldiers. Ho then asked me if I thought I could pass any of it. I told him I didn't know, but I expected I could. He did not say anything at that time about sending any. I told him that if I saw any chanco of disposing any I would let him know. After I got back to the army I wrote to him that I v/antcd him to sond me some money. I said in the letter that I was not particular what kind ho sent. I did not write to him how much to sond. I supposed be would sond a considerable sum. After Ifot back to the regiment he wrote to mo that o had expressed throo hundred and thirty-six dollars of Boone county money to Nashville. When tho regiment reached Nashville I called at the Express ofuco for the money, but it had not come. The regiment went shortly afterward to Lavergne. After we had been thero awhile I receivod a n*te from the Express Company saying that the package had arrived. I sent for it at the first opportunity by Barney Shaw. He did not get it because he had not a written order. I shortly after sent for it by Barney Shaw again. Ho had not returned when I was ordered to appear before the Chief of Army Police. I expected my father to send me bad money. I expected to sell tho money if I could. I have not received tho package, but am informed that it is Boono county money. Two or three years ago thero was a Bank in Boono county callod the Boone County Bank. It was up but a short time.I have never received or sent any other packages of such monoy.I have novor passed any bad money in mylife that I know of.I don’t know the name of any person in the regiment with whom I have seen bad money. Don't think I could identify any with whom I have seen such money. Don’t know of any officers using ot doaling in any puch .money.Wm. Zion lives in Lebanon, Boono county, is a merchant. A package of one hundred and twenty-seven dollars of said package of Boone county Bank and Confederate money I think belongs to said Zion. I don’t know the names of the others from whom my father obtained tho money. I think my father wrote me that “N. B. J.” web a partner with him in the transaction.I don’t know who he means by “N. J. B.”I don't know of any othor persons having anything to do with bad money of any kina, excepting as I. have stated. I dont’t know of my father haying anything to do with spurious, counterfeit or bad money at any other time.My father’s Post Office is Boxleytown, Hamilton county, Indiana. He lives in Boone county near the line betwoen Hamilton and Boon counties. I don't think I should have thought under the circumstances of using any
