DAILY JOURNAL.FRIDAY MORNING, APRIL 17, 1885.A Swindle of Soldiers Exposed.Hbad Quarters Fourteenth Army Corfs Department of the Cumberland,Office of Chief of Police.Nashville, Tcnn., March 1, 1863.U. S. District Attorney, Sib: JacobEtenburn of Boone County, in your State, recently sent a package of $336 of fraudulent money to his son, Henry Etenburn, a private of Co. A., of the 10th Rcg't. Indiana Vols., for passing off upon soldiers and others who could be taken in by it. I seized the package at the Express office in this city. The principal part of the money purports to be issued by the Boone County Bank (I enclose one of the bills.) I arrested Henry Etenburn and to-day examined him under oath. I enclose a copy of his affidavit. You will notice that he fully implicates his father and others in the transaction. I also send you a copy of the letter accompanying the package of money.I refer this case to you for such action as may be deemed proper by you in the premises. Etenburn and his associates have committed a high crime and, I think, should bo punishod. Please publish the facts in this matter (giving the names of the offenders) in the Indianapolis papers as soon as it may not be predjudicial to whatever proceedings you may choose to institute. I make this requestin ordor that it may be a lesson to parties
