Ex-mayor arrest criticizedCONROE (AP) — An attorney for Louis Talley said the former Patton Village mayor’s second arrest in connection with the deaths of his wife and a Splendora man stemmed from the illegal and “morally reprehensible” tactics of prosecutors.Talley, who had been indicted on two countsSTATE AT A GLANCEof murder and released from Travis County Jail in December on bonds totaling $200,000, was arrested Friday, a few hours after a state district judge in Austin doubled the amount ofhis bail.Defense attorney Dick DeGuerin said Talley, 44, was arrested at his work place in Montgomery County after prosecutors allegedly wiredincriminating evidence against him.“What the prosecutors did. in sending this young boy, wired for sound, to talk to his father to try to get incriminating statements is not only illegal, it's also immoral to set a son against his father,” DeGuerin said.Neither Travis County District Attorney Ronald Earle nor assistant District Attorney Terry Keel, who is handling the Talley case, could be reached for comment.President of bank missingGRAHAM (AP) — Friends and family members of a bank president have alerted law enforcement authorities to his disappearance but officers said a visit by auditors at the institution was only a coincidence.Patrick Morton, 46, was last seen by his wife leaving his home in Graham about 6:45 a.m. Wednesday in a van. The former Roby resident is president of the First National Bank of Graham, said Police Chief Bill Paul.
