Skaneateles Searchers Say 'Nothing New'‘‘Nothing now” was reported today at Skaneateles Lake where 100 persons are engaged in the fifth day of searching for three teen-agers missing since Monday and believed drowned.Dragging operations have been intensified and 15 scuba divers areat work. Five amphibious ducksare involved in the search as well as many private motorboats and a private plane.Authorities report that the ducks are dragging the deeper sections of the lake while the divers are working in shallower waters.The three believed drowned are Elizabeth A. Loftus, 13, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Loftus of West Lake Road, Skaneateles; Donald Cain Jr., son of Donald Cain Sr. of Skaneateles and Mrs. Florence McCardell of Marcellus, and Russell J. Caver. 14, son of Mrs. Helen Cayer of 4408 Limme-rick St., Marcellus.At 8 p.m. Monday an 11-foot aluminum canoe, empty and water-filled, was found adrift 300 feet from the east shore of the lake, three miles south of the village.The three were last seen at 3 p.m. at the Skaneateles countryfe *club in the canoe which is owned by the McCardell family.The search is expected to be stepped up over the weekend with added ducks from neighboring counties and more private craft. Volunteers also will be used as shore searchers.The divers working from ducks and the ducks equipjx,d with dragging hooks are working in an area from the Skaneateles Country Club on the west side of the lake to just north of the East Shore Marina on the west side w’here the canoe wasfound.
