Williams was arrested at gunpoint near Blockton Tuesday night while driving a car reported stolen at Villisca.He was taken into custody by Taylor County Sheriff Harry Lucas after the Blockton mayor reported a man was driving while apparently intoxicated. Earlier Wednesday tha same driver had eluded the sheriff and highway patrolmen west of Bedford after forcing fourteen automobiles off thp paying on Primary 2. Whenarrested, Williams was quoted astelling the sheriff he would havemnshot him- if he could have gotten hold of his gun.Williams was arrested here three months, ago when the car he had borrowed at Avoea frotn a salesman crashed into the Nish-nabotna river bridge near Lewis. Williams had been given use of the car to call on a girl friend at Avoca dfter hitchhiking a ride from Harlan to Avoca with the salesman. He has served β flVe terms in the Oregon penitentiary on false . pretenses . charges, in Nevada for burglary, in Idaho for forgery, and in Washington βfor grand larceny.
