He pleaded guilty j and was ordered to pay a fine of , 4125 and costs, in default four months in jail. He took the jail sentence. Although a first ofiender. . he received more than the minimum penalty because of the extensiveness of his operations. The magistrate declared that this was one of the worst cases of deliberately t manufacturing homebrew for sale that had come to his attention,Perchaluk told the police that he had been manufacturing homebrew since the fall of 1936, and had been j j selling it for two dollars a gallon. \ A sleigh located on his farm had . apparently been fitted up for the t delivery of the illicit liquor. It contained a compartment fitted with a *' lock and large enough to hold : eight or ten gallons. IThe wash, homebrew and boilers I w’ere discovered in a small cook I house to the rear of Perchaluk’s I residence, while the coolers and I worms were located nearby. I
