PENALTY FOR CARRYING CONCEALEDWEAPONS.From The Socorro Times.Sercey Secrest, alias Frank Ben-son, who was tried anti convicted at Magdalena for carrying concealed weapons a short - time ago and sentenced to three months imprisonment by Justice of the Peace Johnson, to the county jail, has been turned over to the Texas authorities, to answer to the charge of murder. Sheriff B. L. Zapp, of 'Fayette county, Texas, arrived here a few days ago, with a requisition from the Governor of the State of Texas for Secrest. As he was serving a termin the county jail, Sheriff C. T. Russell declined to deliver him up until an order from Judge Brinker should arrive to that effect. The order was made, ami Secrest was promptly turned over to Sheriff Zapp, to answer to the State of Texas for his crime. Had it not been for the prompt action of Deputy Sheriff Goodlett in making the arrest on the charge of carrying concealed weapons, and his conviction on that charge, perhaps, he would not have been identified as the murderer from Texas. Mr. Goodlett is an efficient officer and deserves credit.
