Westside Woman Indicted as Slayer Of HandymanA second degree murder indictment against a 44-year-od woman accused of shooting a 25-year-old “handyman” Jan. 2 was returned by the Grand Jury Friday.The woman.. Mrs. Elnora Maguire, 1839 N. King, was arrested late Jan. 3 and charged with the death of Arthur McKinney, who lived at the Plaza Hotel. iPolice summoned to Mrs. Maguire’s house found the slain man sprawled between the hall and the bathroom with a bullet lodged in the left side of his chest.Mrs. Maguire, white, told them that McKinney, a Negro, who she’ said did “odd jobs” for her, had come into the house and picked up a pistol she had lying on a table.She said that she had warned him that the gun was loaded. She said that he continued to play a-round with the weapon and it accidentally went off.Police arrested Mrs. Maguire after investigators noticed “discrepancies” in her story.
