The Clark. avenue grocery yielded 40 or 50 cartons of cigarettes. In the West End. the burglars had succeeded in jimmying the door • but were frightened away either by Policeman Durham or by people residing in the immediate vicinity who turned on a light when they heard voices near the store. The screen door had been cut.Enter Gem RestaurantThe Gem. restaurant on Monroe street was entered Sunday night and half a dozen cartons of cigarettes stolen. The burglars entered the theater through a side door and then jimmied the lobby door of the restaurant. Clerks said Lho burglars carried away a slot machine but that fact was not noted In the police report.Burglars tried to jimmy a door on the home of C. W. Biilo in Forest Hill but were frightened away by a watchful Boston Bull clog who set up a terrific din and awakened Mrs. Billo who in turn summoned neighbors.
