J. Hassell and Ira Wilcox, of Freeport, confiscated ft huge still on the banks or Bastrop Bayou about a- mile to the east of the Angleton-Clute road.A negro. Williams, was taken into custody by the awaiting officers when he came to fire up the distillery about 10 o'clock in the morning. The negro is thought to have been only a employee and the owner of the stiJh reported to be a former game warden, against whom charges have been filed, is expected to be arrested today.Williams was lodged in county jail at Angletott and charges of liquor law violations entered against him. Another negro suspected of connection with the liquor factory was to be taken lor questioning Thursday. There were 32 barrels, containing 1650 gallons of mash. 3 large colls, a 300-gallon tank, booster pufup and pipes which brought water from Bastrop Bayou to the distillery. Officers estimated the equipment cost between $1060 and $1500.The equipment was broken up, transported by boat down the bayou to the highway and taken by truck to Angleton,Officers estimated the still had been In openuion some time, perhaps two or three years.The officers know of the location of a couple of other big stills in different parts of the county, they state, and are planning to swoop down upon them in the next few days.1(.«Other Liquor Violators Taken
