:eI-MAN SLAYS BROTHER- CIN-LAW AND THENGIN HIS LIBERTYIQLA, Kas., April 10—(AP)—Edgar Bowers was at liberty today, released by county authorities after a coroner’s jury had found the slaying of his brother-in-law, Wallace B Heflin, 48, “justifiable homicide”Neighbors testifying at the Inquest, said Bowers shot Heflin to death yesterday in La Harpe, as he stood at his mother-inlaw's doorstep arguing with his wife, Mrs. Grace Heflin, whom he had divorced, remarried and from whom he was again separated.Witnesses said the fatal shot was fired when Heflin, brandishing a gun, struck his wife with his fist, and threatened her with death unless she would give him money or get a divorce.Mrs. J. O. Smith told of hastily summoning Bowers in the course of an argument. Bowers entered the rear door of the home, witnesses said, ignored Heflin's gun covering him, and killed his orother-in-law with a single shot from a rifle.Heflin, who had been working in Des Moines, returned to La. Harpe unexpectedly yesterday. Two children of the Heflins, a son, Lloyd, 26, and a daughter 24, live in Des Moines.
