By Bill Bauer and Bill GharrityLeader-Telegram staffThe decomposed body of a missing Eau Claire man was recovered Wednesday from a gravesite in the town of Spring Brook, Dunn County Sheriff Richard Risler said today.m.Risler said the bodv was transported to the Ramsey County. Minn., Medical Examiner's office where a comparison of dental records determined the body to bemthat of Robert L. Williams, who was last seen in Julv 1985. He wasWthen 38 vears old.The gravesite is close to a residence where Alvin Tavlor. who haswbeen charged in murders in Menomonie and Eau Claire, lived for a time.Also recovered at the gravesite on rental property owned by Don Vasev of Route 1. Elk Mound, were male-tvpe clothing consisting of a shirt, trousers and leather es. Other items included tworings, a cigarette lighter and eyeglasses.“The body was encased in a substance that appears to be lime. Risler said.The sheriff explained that the body and accompanying items were taken to Minnesota because the Wisconsin Crime Laboratory Bu-wreau had informed him that their forensics pathologist would not beavailable until after Friday.w - ■A pathologist report indicating the cause of death was not available at press time today,Risler said the incident is being investigated by his department as amanhomicide.“At this point in time it would be strictly speculative to name any one suspect when we have no cause of death,” Risler said.According to neighbors. Alvin Taylor, a 40-year-old Portage man beine held in the Dunn Countv Jail on first-degree murder charges from Dunn and Eau Claire counties. had lived on the Vasev property a couple of years ago.JBau Claire Police Chief James McFarlane said Williams was reported missing July 17. 1985. byhis wife. Willie.The chief said the victim's wife moved to Jackson. Mich., in November 1985. Authorities contactedher by telephone today.McFarlane said Williams moved to Eau Claire in June 1980. when he found a |ob at Crav Research inChippewa Falls. His wife followed a month later. They have three children. two boys, ages 6 and 10. anda 7-year-old daughterWilliams was hospitalized for 12 weeks, and as a result lost his jobin the fall of 1980, the chief said.
