Brewer threatens wife,being held without bondTALLADEGA — Former Talladega County Sheriff Luke Brewer remained in jail heretoday without bond after beingarrested Friday on a peaceproceedingAccording to Talladega County sheriff department authorities, Brewer was arrested Friday night at hiswife’s Sylacauga residence and charged with trespassing after warning, carrying a concealed weapon and assault on a peaceofficer while in performance of his duty.Bond cannot be set on the peace proceeding charges until a hearing in circuit court Wednesday.The three charges will be heard Friday along with two other charges, assault andauthorities said, when Brewer and concealing stolen property tried to enter his wife's accepting a bribe; challengingresidence Authorities said a 38-caliber revolver was taken from Brewer and that he allegedly assaulted one of the arresting officers.Brewer, impeached and removed from the sheriffs of-to a duel; and threatening anlt; harassment over a telephone.fice last September, was tried recently in Talladega on two counts of embezzling automobiles.
