Home'BurnsA crippled Athens Route 5 man watched helplessly Saturday as fire destroyed his five-room frame home near Bates Church.George Sanborne, who resided alone, told Richland Area Fire Brigade volunteers he had no telephone in his home and was unable to walk *o the nearest neighbor, about three-fourths of a mile away.He said the fire started in the kitchen when the heating stove ignited the wall. Sanborne managed to remove a few possessions. Neighbors saw the smoke and called firemen, but the flames were beyond control when the department arrived. The alarm wras received at 11:30 a.m.The residence was owned by Walter Douglas. Sanborne was given shelter at the Dale Morris home.
