'ael Ninety-Two Year Old Mail Had XuFaith in Ranks and Kept His Money llid in a Closet at His Home.A tin can used as a bank at- his [home 416 Williams street, cost Albert Simpkins. 92 years old, $2100, according to a statement made by Mr. Simpkins to Sheriff Mont L. Dowell -jand Chief oF Police Maurice Dorney 11 yesterday. Mr. Simpkins missed liis money from its hiding place yesterday morning shortly before noon.According to Simpkins' statement I to the officers he had no faith in the banks aiul for years he has been keeping his money and valuable papers in a tin can placed in a gunny sack hid In a closet at his home. Friday he received his pension check of $65 anil j after paying his hills he went to the fcloset where lie kept his home-made jbank to place the remainder of theI money received from his pension check. Upon reaching the corner cf {the closet where ho had kept the box secretly Jydden for years in a sack,he was horrified to find the can with•the money and papers were missing.He notified the officers, who believing that owing to his advanced age he had misplaced the can made a thorough search of the house and its contents but failed to find any trace of the money. An investigation is now underway by the officers.s
