An Old Resident of Indiana Dies in the West.(How slender :s life’s silver cordHow soon it is broken here.Each moment brings a parting wordAnd man} a falling tear.R. M Pickett was bora in Switzerland county, Indiana, July 29, 182(5,and died at the home of bis eldest daughter, Mrs A?ran McNew, near Michigan, N. D., March 4, 1909, aged 82 years. 7month9 and :i days. lie was married to Mary J. Dickey Aag. 24, 1807, and to them were born nine children, all of whom survive. He was a member of the Methodist church more than sixty years. He was ready and willing to die and calmly resigned himself to the will of the Lord. Death came to him as a peaceful slumber and he sweetly sank to rest.Asleep in the arm9 of Jesus,Safe on his gentle breast.Our loved one has passed over to welcome us to that new bright world. lie leaves five daughters, four sons, forty-five grandchildren and twenty two great-grandchildren. Mr, Pickett will be remembered by a great many people of Ripley county as he lived on his farm south of Loeksprings more than forty years. Funeral services were held in Lakote after which the remains were laid to rest in the Lakota cemetery by the side of his wife who died ten yeare ago. Those of his children present at the funeral were Mrs. Aaron McNew, Michigan, N. D.; II. D, Pickett, Westport, Ind.; W. N. Pickett, Michigan, N. D.; Mrs. Burney Linkem, Delutb, Minn.Not for the dead in Christ we weep,His sorrows now are o’er,The sea is calm, the tempest p-st.On that eternal shore.
