Theft Is CostlyFor Austin ManIt cost Albert Raymond McCutchen. 43, of Austin, MOO. county court costs—and two broken hands—as result of his haying stolen a $24 electric clock Friday afternoon at Dunlaps Department store.The formal court assessment was made Saturday afternoon by Judge Walter Davies, but the damage to the hands came about non-judicially.When McCutchen was observed leaving the store with the clock, Percy Denton, manager of the appliance department, followed him to the Ave. K entrance and demanded return of the property.Attempts To Flo© McCutchen attempted to run. He threw the clock at Denton, •who failed to catch it. Denton, however, tripped the fugitive, police and store officials said, causing him to fall to the paving. Twice more McCutchen attempted to flee, and twice more was he tripped by Denton. t „ ,Police, receiving six calls in a minute and a half from persons who happened to see whnt was going on* arrived and accepted custodv from Denton. They look their prisoner to Lubbock Memorial hospital, where x-rny examination showed a small bono in each hand was fractured. Roy Fenley, 46, of Lubbock, was fined $75 and costs and his. right to drive suspended six months, for drunk driving.Police said Fenley had lost control of his car late Friday at Ave G and Fifth and knocked down trees of the Victor Voegeli property at 720 Fifth and hacl atop-E*d his oar in the yard of Ray oward of 719 Fifth.J.
