I e I h'Officers throughout this section are in search of two truck drivers of the Carthage Creamery Company of Carthage, Mo., and a five-x j ton short wheel-base Mack truck, 8 with the Carthage Creamery Co. name painted on the cab. These men are wanted by local author!-s, ties on several charges among which are, driving while drunk, attempting house breaking, and resisting arrest, which took place ; here Tuesday night.According to a statement by Sheriff J. M. Bone the men were under the influence of whiskey when they attempted to enter the home of Mrs. C. B! Hali about midnight Tuesday night, the sheriff responding to a telephone call by Mrs. Hall. Before the sheriff and Assistant City Policc H. J. I11 Brooks rcached the Hall home the ' I men had gone. From the descrip-; tion Mrs. Hall gave the officers, they immediately began a search for the two men who had been • seen on the streets here all of Tuesday afternoon. The men were apprehended by the officers and carried to Mrs. Hall's home where they were identified as the men who tried to enter her home only a few hours earlier Tuesday night. The men were brought back to be placed in the local jail. As Sheriff bone attempted to take them from the cab of the truck in which they were seated he was pushed from the truck by one of the men while the other drove the vehicle away. The sheriff fired six shots at the men but was unsuccessful in stopping them. Names of the men have not been learned.The large trailor to which the truck was attached was loaded with butter. The trailor broke down near Butler Tuesday morn-ingand was under repair at a local machine shop. While waiting •for the repair work to be done, it ! is learned, the men disconnected the truck and were uSirig it at thlt; time of their attempted arrest. Local officers are holding the * | trailor and load of blotter it is r! learned, while the drivers and the truck are being hunted throughout this section.Sheriff Bone stated that he had telephoned officials of the Carthage Creamery Co-, in Missouri, but they were unable to give him the names of the men in charge of this truck until they had investigated their records.i1eI,sssss
