auiiiueuL-urilacbeboMurder Case Two Years OldDetective Says Probe Of MurderOf ArmyTOTlitr.erLittle or no cooperation from the War Department tv as blamed yesterday by Pennsylvania Police Detective Sergeant Carl Hartman for the lack of progress in the Betty Jane Kennedy murder case.Hartman reported latest details in the case Sunday, which was the second anniversary ot the day on which the Hagerstown girl’s garrot-ed body was found along a country rode near Ronzerville in nearby Pennsylvania.9The leiective said he is “reasonably sure” the girl was murdered by a soldier formerly stationed at Camp Ritchie who looks like an Indian.“He was smartly uniformed am. wore a medal bedecked battle jacket,” Hartman added. To date investigation of this angle in the case has run into a stone wall with the War Department, he continued. Several times Avmy quarters were approached, “and each time , there has been little or no coaxwtvtoperation.Law enforcement officers in this county who have participated ; different times in the case, do not jfe all agree vith theories advance, jds by the Pennsylvania detective. | h Some contend that the man who lt;killed etty Jane Kennedy is now serving time on other charges. Still j C others argue that the man who' ^ did it died some months ago.Solution of the case, however, is in the hands of Pennsylvania police who call the case the most baffling in Franklin County history.The body was found April * 4, 1946, face down, lodged against a log, which had prevented it from rolling down the mountain side in to Red Run. A slip, the only piece of clothing on the body, was wrapped around her midriff.Although some other articles of clothing wert. found strewn in the area, police never found the red dress the girl was supposed tohave been wearing.
