Negress Murdered Seventeen.LaFayette, .*La.—Clementine Barna-bet, a negress under arrest here, cleared the mystery that lias surrounded the murders of seventeen negroes in Louisiana and gave clues which are expected to fix the guilt for eighteen other night assassinations of negroes which have been charged to the mysterious “ax man.1' She was a member of the “Church of Sacrifice,'’ a raysteriou negro sect that is said to believe .in the sacrifice of human lives as a manner of securing immortality.
