Man receives 15-month sentenceA Stony Mountain resident was sentenced to a total of 15 months in jail for his part in a series of break and entries taking place last summer.Derek Sutherland, 19 received his sentence last week in Winnipeg. The first year of the sentence will be served for breaking into a Stony Mountain home where a water bed was slashed open and $600 in goods were stolen. In addition he must pay $3,700 in restitution and serve two years probation.A further three months was added to his sentence for break and enter into a couple of Winnipeg businesses, according to a Stonewall RCMP spokesman. Sutherland was also sentenced to three additional months to be served concurrently for his involvement in the break and enter at Jack’s Gulf last August..Two other Stony Mountainresidents involved in the series of break and enters have been remanded.VandalsshootM. T. S. towerTeulon RCMP are investigating a shooting incident near Malon-ton that caused SI5,000 damage to a Manitoba Telephone System lower.MTS workers found evidence of four shots fired into the tower. One of the shots hit a transformer at the 150 foot level and affected service in the area for a time.Teulon RCMP say the incident look place at about 3 p.m. on Saturday. The incident is still under investigation.
