Green Drive Monday.Mrs. Lassiter is the mother of Gerald Locklear, charged with the pistol slaying of David Lee Walker on the campus of High Point Central High School, The grand jury returned a true bill in Locklear’s case Monday.Although no one — firemen, police or state officials — has used the word “arson,” thecircumstances of the fire and statements by Mrs. Lassiter that she has been receiving threatening phone calls have brought about a probe into the case that is far from routine.I will say this,” stated Fire Chief Claude Canady today. “We are very suspicious and are continuing our investigation.Two fires occurred at the Lassiter residence. One. shortly after 10 p. m., caused little damage. Firemen found and extinguished fire in a pile of clothing under the house. The second fire, discovered two hours later, had its origin in a closet near the back porch. This fire caused heavy damage to the house and its contents.
