ITALIAN USES AXE INFIGHT AT GOSHENGoshen. March 31 — Considerableexcitement was caused at the home of Sarah Logan, on the Green, Monday evening when a light that might easilyhe termed a pitched battle took place.The house in which the rumpus took place has long boon known to the police authorities.About 12.30 o’clock last night the Tillage police were notified that a serious struggle was In progress In the Green and Officers Bruce and YanGelder Immediately hurried to the scene of the disturbance.Upon arriving at the place the officers found Sarah Lcgan and Agnes Neal, two colored women, in the house together with Charles Stevens, colored, who showed several signs of hating been In a serious struggle, being very badly cat about the face and hack, and George Hutchins, a white man, who is said to have lived in the house.Upon being questioned they told the officers that the man who had so severely beaten Stevens had disappeared. All who were in the house at the time of the fracas were arrested and the police were soon on the trail of the fellow who was claimedby those in the house to have made the disturbance. It was decided thathe must have gone down the Erie tracks toward. Grercourt and Officer VanGelder and Sid*' Johnson boarded a produce train bound for Kew York and kept a careful lookout on the trip j down the line. Upon arriving at Qreycourt a man who showed signs of having been severely beaten up was seen walking along the tracks. He was arrested by Officer YanGelder and gave his name as Joe Ptsone, an Italian, and employed as a cheeee-maker at Oxford. The man was brought to this village and he. together with those who were implicated in the affair, were arraigned before Justice Chappell this morning on a charge of felonious assault From the testimony given at the hearing it was found that Pisone had gone to the house of Sarah Logan, and had paid Agnes Xeal a sum of money and had later attempted to take the money away from her. at ; which Charles Stevens and George Hutchins took a hand in the matter, and the fight was in full swing.After having been seriously beaten ' by the two men Flsone seized an axe from near the stove ar.d began totrim things up a bit. Stevens received several cists about the face and track and was soon rendered helpless by the effect of the encounter, and ■ then Hutchins discontinued she fight.i upon which Fisoae made a quick getaway.The hearing was adjourned until Wednesday, April 1, at 4 o'clock. The trio were remanded.j
