Broks and Florence Burns. This young man was in the Glen Island Hotel on the night that Brooks was shot, Friday, Feb. 14,Oapt -Titus has been informed that ■the young man told a friend immediately after the tragedy that he paw Brooks and the woman, and that the latter was not Florence Burns. The young man is reported to have said *.“I can’t afford to become mixed up in this case and will only come forward and tell what I know In event of Florence Burns being indicted or any proceeding toeing taken against her that would really endanger her life.”Several days ago this information was placed l»n possession of Capt. Titus with the name and address of the person to whom the young man first told about his being in the hotel that Friday night. This person denied to the Detective-Sergeants having been told anything of the lctnd, of knowing such a young man or of knowing anything about the Brooks-Burns case. All efforts of the detectives lt;fro get her to ’disclose the identity of the young main proved futile. If the statements alleged to have been made by the young man can be verified, an entirely new complexion will be given to the Brooks murder, as it would remove Florence Burns absolutely from all suspicion.Capt. Titus denied yesterday that heintended to ask for the exhumation of Brook's body. Such a proceeding ho said would be valueless,■Florence Burns is still with her parents at Echo La loo, N. J. She will be kept there until the Coroner's inquest ■in’t-o the death of Brooks has been concluded*. Though Capt. Titus and Coroner Brown, are both anxious to have Miss Burns go,, on the witness stand at the inquest, her lawyer, Foster L. Backus, refuses to give his consent.PHI LA the mao] In mo tier negro bi J.
