2ND “CREAM CAN’’ GANG IS AT LARGEBANDITS ESCAPE WITH LOOT FROM STATE BANK ATHUNTLEY.Huntley, April 2 (UP)—Authorities today hunted a gang of “cream can” bandits who broke into the state bank' of Huntley last night and escaped with an undetermined amount of money.Working during a thunderstorm.the burglars forced open the frontdoor of the bank and used an acetylene torch to drill into the vault.Two cream cans, partly filled with water, were left in the bank. The water wras used to cool thedrilling equipment.Two state crime bureau officials joined Eheriff William Matthies of Blue Earth in the investigation.Leonard Nelson, bank cashier, said the amount of money takenhad not been determined.The original cream can” bandit gang was broken up last year when officers surprised the burglars during a raid on a Sargent, Minn., bank May 15, 1939.
