IN IE BEATING GAGEIt took a jury only ten. minute* to decide that Vincent Rucis wju guilty of assault am! battery on hi. wife in Justice Trester’s court thl; morning. The court fined the de fendant $20 anti costs, amountim to $40.61, or thirty days in the eoun ty jail. In default of the fine tin defendant was turned over tlt; Sheriff Goodell to serve out tin sentence.The trial was only another chap ter in the long series of domestic trials and tribulations of the Rucis family. It was the second time Mrs. Rucis hailed her husband into court to have him penalized for “beating her up. She had twice Instituted divorce proceeding* against him and twice dropped the action.Bruises and long scratches were exhibited in court by Mrs. Rucis showing what tko wrath of her husband had wrought in the general family fight of Sunday night.Atty. Chadek of Chadefe Schil-dauer contended for the plaintiff that the husband wanted the wife to make moonshine and that when , she refused to do this, he attacked her, kicked anti scratched her about the body. Atty. Humke of Bassuener Humke brought forward the defense that the wife told the husband to go out and get a moonshine still and when he brought back an old worthless still, she threw the still out of the house and attacked him'. He was said It have fought back in self do'ense.The Sunday night fight happened after the husband and wife had been over to the home of Jos. Rim kus, 1213 Kentucky avenue, wherr RimIrus and his step-son engagedin a free-for-all that ended taMunicipal court Monday morning.
