Marshal Darrough of the Northern I-* district who has been conducting the J 1 chase of the WyclifTe boys who killed j I deputies Vier and Gilstrap, called up I I the Times-Democrat by phone to deny J1 the story that any of his posscmen Jliad killed a crippled hoy or had even I seen one as reported in this paper a few days ago. IThe Times-Democr.lt received the J story from an Indian who lives in the J yicinitv of the trouble and who was j introduced to the writer of tile story I'v two of the 'most prominent In* I dians of this city. One side says they I did and the other says they didn’t- ) The name of the'Indian who gave thlt;? I paper the story was withheld at his | request and cannot he published. Megave :lt; reason for wanting his name withheld saying that if the men who were ju the posse found it out it would mean serious trouble for him/ and that it would endanger his life. Me also said that the fact that the bqy was' shot was trying to be kept from the public as the men knew they had made a mistake.
