%rA shooting* affray in Clinton township on Sunday morning shocked the quietude of the rural district and many rumors were afloat that a murder had been committed. The participants were John Long and John Hawkins, the latter being shot near the heart by Long while resisting arrest. Mr. Hawkins was taken to Benton, where he remained in a critical condition for many days.
