CHICAGO, Oct. 6.—Although a non-suit was taken to-day before Justice Cochrane in the case against Edward J. Morgan, the actor, and George B. Weaver, President of the Stratford Hotel Company, charged with disorderly conduct and resisting an officer, the incident has confirmed a bit of stage gossip; The alleged offense consisted in preventing a constable from serving a writ of attachment uponthe baggage of Helen Bertram, the actress. It now develops that Mr. Morgan and Miss Bertram were secretly married at Windsor, Canada, jvst before they Came to Chicago. Morgan at first denied, and then admitted, the marriage.Mrs. Morgan and her daughter to-day accompanied her husband in an automobile ride. It is asserted that many dinners and entertainments at which Mr. Morgan and Miss Bertram “ happened to be Present were in reality given to the couple by a few of their friends who knew of the secret wedding.Theatrical folk here were surprised when they heard of the marriage of Edward J Morgan and Helen Bertram. Some there were who said they hid heard that such an event Was pending, but nobody lOokM for it so early. Both are well known here.Edward J.
