The “Times” of Isovcmber 9, reports that Kerine Barrett. the 23-year-old Jamaican pianist, won first prize in the Mozart Memorial Prize competition organized by the llaydn-Mozart Society held on Monday.The entrants included pianists, singers and wind and string players. The prize brings £100 in cash and performances with, the Haydn-Mozart Players at the r.s-tival Hall and in the provinces.ferine Barrett came to England in 1961 on a Government scholarship to study with Ilona Kabos. She has appeared with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Halle Orchestra find the London-Wtozart Hlayers. She has also been heard on the B.B.C.
