RJR says thanks to Hazel MonteithStaff members of Radio Jamaica Ltd., on July 1 gathered to formally say thanks to Mrs. Hazel Monteity, Social Worker and former radio talk show host of the popular Citizens Advice Bureau Programme for her many years of service to RJR. This was expressed through the presentation of a Citation which hailed not only her professionalism but acknowledged her as a “second mother ” to many of the RJR staff.Mrs. Monteith retired from the organisation on May 30th.Speaking during the brief function, chairman and managing director. Mr. Lester Spaulding, stated that Mrs. Monteith had demonstrated a humanitarian spirit and unparallel dedication to duty.the station, he added, was highly appreciative of the many years, which Mrs. Monteith had contributed, particularly through her work with the Citizens Advice Bureau programme.The half an hour programme which aired every Monday and Friday between 9:30 a.m, and 10:00 a.m. since 1975, provided the platform for rendering assistance, through counselling and employment opportunities to many members of the public.In making the presentation to Mrs. Monteith, host of RJR’s latest programme ‘Good Morning Jamaica,' Mrs. Dorraine Samuels, stated that Mrs. Monteith was a close and dear friend to a number of RJR staffes. “Hazel was like a second mother to me, she'll be sadly missed by the organisation, added Samuels.Mrs. Monteith who was clearly moved by the many responses, thanked RJR for the opportunity which the station had afforded her in being able to serve those who werejfiflst in need.Mrs. Monteith joined the staff of Radio Jamaica in 1975 and has contributed over twenty-three years of service as programme host.
