Burglars Friday evening made an unsuccessful raid on the Martin Lumber Company office here. They gained entrance to the office but were unable to get into the two safes in the place. The combination knob on each was hammered off and the safes were damaged to the ex tent of about $100, John Rochelle said Saturday Both safes contained only $2.82 cents, Rochelle said. About the same time that burg lars were entering the lumber com pany office daughters of G. W. Mar tin, owner of the concern and who was not at home Friday night, call ed their brother-in-law, Floyd Brooks, and told him that burglars were in their Chestnut Street home. Brooks went to the Martin address but the prowlers had fied.
